After a day of rain in Tauranga it looked like there was enough of a break in the weather to race over and climb the Mount. Being at the top in the middle of a cloud was so surreal – the view I am so familiar with was completely hidden from sight!
Back down at Pilot Bay, I captured these couple of shots of the sun peaking through the clouds as it began to set.
A few days later I was in Taupo, and this was when parts of the country got completely battered by a bad storm. I have never heard torrential rain continue so relentlessly for hours on end as the first night I was there! (I was also incredibly thankful we decided to stay at an AirBnB rather than in a tent in a camping ground!)
On the second night, the weather began to clear. We were heading back from the hot pools and I could tell that there was going to be a magical sunset, so after a quick shower I jumped into my car and drove down to the lake to watch it.
