At the northern end of Miramar there is a lovely, peaceful spot which is home to the Massey Memorial.
The short walkway to the top is easy to miss. The start of it is a little staircase up the bank, and the main telling point it exists is there are a small number of carparks on the side of the otherwise narrow coastal road.
Strike it on the right day, and you won’t want to rush back down in a hurry. You get great views back towards the city, across the harbour to the Hutt, an east towards Days Bay and Eastbourne, and you’ll be serenaded by tuis and loads of other birds.
