Wellington’s south coast is largely gnarly and rugged. This wild coastline endures having the waves of Cook Strait constantly washing (sometimes pounding) upon it, and if you’ve ever walked along there in a southerly you’ll know you have to be make of strong stuff to withstand it.
Despite this harsh sounding environment, when the sun shines and it’s a windless day you’ll find yourself saying what all us Wellingtonians say: #CantBeatWellingtonOnAGoodDay.
I love the south coast because it has these different personalities. I also love it because it is the best place in Wellington to catch the sunset on a night when the sky turns it on like a magic show.
