They say you can’t beat Wellington on a good day, and I they are absolutely right. When I woke up one especially good day I knew it called for a little jaunt to find a coffee, and a spot to sit and enjoy the sunshine and a view of some sort. Lyall Bay seemed like an superb choice for this activity; the wall by the beach is an excellent spot to perch.

I drove to the coast and WOW, I have never seen such HUGE surf rolling in on the south coast! It was astounding! Especially seeing as the day was as far from stormy as you could possibly get. How fortuitous that I had happened to put my camera in my car this day of all days…

The power in those waves was incredible. That, combined with the view of the majestic south island mountains in the distance, made for a breathtaking sight really.
